GET INVOLVED AT ELLA
Volunteers are a vital part of all our programs, and we’re always looking for people in the community who would like to be part of our service and make a difference to the lives of people with disabilities and the elderly.
- There are any number of ways you can help
- Visiting residents in aged-care facilities for a chat (see our Community Visitors Scheme below)
- Supporting the elderly at the centre and on outings
- Supporting people with a disability
The Ella Centre provides Training and Orientation for all volunteer positions.
All you need is a generous heart, a big smile, a willingness to listen and, of course, some time to spare.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not recruiting any new volunteers at this time. However, if you are interested in our Community Visitors Scheme please see below.
Community Visitors Scheme (CVS)
Many people find, as they get older, that they begin to feel lonely. They may have limited friends or family or feel increasingly isolated because of their cultural background, disability, or poor health.
The Community Visitors Scheme helps provide people who live in Australian Government-funded aged care homes with some extra company.
Being part of our Community Visitors Scheme means that you volunteer your time, at least once a fortnight, to visit a member of the community you are paired with at an aged-care facility.
We do our very best to make sure you have shared interests, backgrounds and languages so that you don’t struggle to connect.
A visit, after all, is about both of you having a nice time and there’s nothing quite like finding a new friend!
