Community Interaction Program
The Ella Centre’s Community Interaction Program is designed to support individuals with a disability, who are in receipt of post school options or community participation funding, to participate in the local community. Through this involvement the individuals have the opportunity to develop their living skills and enhance their quality of life.
The program is designed to meet the needs of clients with very high to exceptional support needs. The activities are mainly focused on community access and sensory stimulation.
The programs aims to assist each participant to:
- Develop awareness in self and surroundings through participating in community based recreational and leisure activities.
- Develop decision making skills and choice by using music, gentle exercise, sensory programs and art.
- Maintain and enhance personal skills and self esteem.
- Increase individual participation and involvement in the community.
Each participant has an Individual Program Plan, in line with person centred planning. Individual goals are developed in conjunction with the individual and, if they choose, their significant others.
The program assists participants in access the community in various ways, and The Ella Centre has two wheelchair-enabled vehicles to facilitate this access.
The program operates Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm.
