In Adelaide last month there was a international Alz conference. There were many good speakers, lots of professionals, but one speaker, in her maiden speech, Alison Easton from the Ella Centre in NSW, bought me to tears. She began with an apology to both the Government and to the Alzheimers association - for what she was about to say - that they need to get their act together and support those with younger onset dementia, that she believed that they were failing:- She was a passionate advocate for the plight of carers and the little Govt assistance availed to them

Hello,
I attended the Adelaide conference last Friday and saw your presentation. I wanted to come up afterwards to tell you what an excellent job you’d done, but I was a bit upset by the end! My father has recently been diagnosed with early onset dementia, we are waiting for a definitive diagnosis, but it looks most likely to be FTD. Your presentation was very moving, if I were able to speak without becoming emotional, I would have said very similar things, so thank you for giving me a voice!
I have resigned from my work to move back to Adelaide to look after my father, so far, I have found no real support in SA for early onset. He is a very proud man, and is scared he will be made a fool of. I wish we had someone like you and your organisation in SA to help! I was so very impressed with your passion and energy at the conference, congratulations on doing such a wonderful job.
All the best,
Trisch
